Hello, I am helping a friend with a D6 tractor sn 3H2616. We have to replace the engine block. The engine block is sn 9U22959 and casting #IH5652. We have a parts engine with a good block and sn 9637 casting # 4F6430. The only difference we can see is how the main bearings are held to keep from rotating. The original engine has tabs on the bearings and the parts engine is pinned. I am sure from the sn that the parts engine is older but can we use it with the later parts? The parts engine has a good crank and main bearings and we are thinking of switching the rods and install new sleeves and pistons and recondition the heads. The parts engine has had the crank turned 0.10 under. Thanks in advance for any information. Jim

3H2616 is not a good s/n, could it be 8U2616?
In any event the crankshaft rod and main journals are the same size for the two bearing location types.

Thanks Old Magnet. Yes it could be 8U. Hard to read the tag. We just wanted to be sure that the parts would interchange with the parts block. Jim
