I found a d5 with a 6r 590 serial number made in france, its a power shift
are these good machines are do they have the motor problems / trans problems. I have not looked at it yet, just have read about some downfalls of the d330 d333 I have no idea what motor this has.
would it be 3406? or d333 or d333c
what to look for with a power shift to detect problems/

thanks

That's a Low Ground Pressure (wide gauge 81") machine with D333C engine (good), just shy of engine change to 3306 (49V1-up) at 6R954.
1974 built in France 105 hp
They are a good machine if your treat them as a D6 (which they replaced) and not a D6C.
Do a test drive and run it through its paces to check out all including power shift.

thanks for the response old magnet.
it has a problem one side not driving, the same side final drive is full of dirt and gunk, not a good thing
I wonder if the final drive is junked out to the point where it has stripped splines or if the steering clutches are worn out on the side
obviously the drive would need to be replaced. other wise in pretty good shape

Dirt in the finals would most likely come in through shot sprocket seals indicating sprocket hub/bearing problems and more. Steering clutches is a different matter. Definitely would drop the value significantly.

If one final drive is in that condition, you will be very lucky if the other is still good as well, knowing the LGP machines as I do, if you start with that final drive, you will probably finish up overhauling both sides and the steering clutches and bevel gear shaft. Its an LGP machine built for soft ground work, many were used on motorway construction for building the 'batters' due to their stability, but firm ground work causes too much flex in the sprocket shafts. Before buying, try and get a magnet through the other side final drive filler to see how much metal comes out, also run at high speed in 3rd with both steering clutches disengaged and feet on the brakes to see how much the bevel gear shaft bearings rumble, they should only whine a bit.
