I know this is a newer tractor than we usually discuss, but I have a D4c Series II (the Cat-Mitsubishi 4 cylinder) and need to pull the starter. There doesn't appear to be much room to work. Has anyone ever replaced the starter on one of these, and if so, do you have any tips on the easiest way to do it?

If it is like a D3 you will need to remove the belly pan and use a curved 12 point box end wrench and turn the one ugly bolt from underneath 1/12th of a turn at a time. I had to also remove the pump lines to get enough wiggle room to ease it out. All doable with a little patience.
