is it the gasket were the housing bolts on or the sealing washer for the precleaner. is yours a oil bath or cartridge type.

It is the seal where the oil cup mates to the main body--my 6U1-up P/Book shows the same 7B5716 seal, bracketed with the P/No of the main body of the A/Cleaner.
If the P/No updates then Cat Parts Dept should have the superseded number in their system.
When I locate my old Cat "O" Ring book I should be able to give you the dimensions if you are purchasing aftermarket.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Mine is the oil bath type and is the one that Eddie mentioned. I was not sure if Cat parts would have changed the part # or not. Some of the new guys at the parts desk do not always seem to be too helpfull with the older parts. I will check with them. I did find some on ebay and some other after market sites that I will check out also.  Thanks guys.

to my knowledge ours doesnt have one. dont remember seeing one when i drained the oil cup last time. will have to look into that. any hydraulics joint should have a suitable oring. take the bowl with you so you can get a suitable size.

many industrial suppliers dont keep made orings anymore but instead carry lengths of oring material or the oring maker kits as the material comes in standard thicknesses and fairly standard materials the reason being cost and they do deteriorate with age why have a heap of inventory you sell little of.

Hi Team,
knew I saw this recently--scan below tells of the seal position--despite how it looks in the picture the "O" Ring goes around the outside of the upper body up against the step that the bowl clamps against--the "O" Ring is shown part assembled/fitted to the upper body and a loose section is hanging down--you need to blow up the pic to see what I am saying.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi Eddie, I guess we can assume the reason Cat added the o-ring - was there guidance given to retrofit them to prior tractors that have the same type of air cleaner arrangement?

Thanks all for the info. The last time I serviced the air cleaner I just reused the old O-Ring, looked to be in good shape. I should have known better and replaced it because it has always weeped a bit of oil. Never did get it to seal good. Not sure if it was original cat issued or not but seemed to have a bit too small of a diameter to seal properly. Has any one had good luck with any of the after market ones that are available on line?
