Hey Guys;
I have a question on the number of clutch plates in the pack? The book says 16 per side,8 steel 8 fiber.When I removed mine there were 16 per pack.A friend gave me a set to put in ,They have 11 steel,11 fiber? My D4 is a dozer,The pack that were given to me came out of a Hi-Lift with 5 rollers mine has 4 rollers,Any reason why one set has 22 the other set has 16? Should I take the 22 pack apart and remove 6? or put them in and try it? Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you STEAMROLLER

You have a mix of clutch discs. The loader (955) used the bronze metallic and plain steel discs totaling 22 per side. The older D4's with organic and steel discs used the 16. The current available combination of metallic and steel is 12 and 12 and total a thickness of 3.480 in.
The old recommended new thickness total was 3-7/16 inches but you can run a stack as high as 3-5/8 in maximum. I would still check to make sure the clutch springs are not bottomed out if you run the maximum thickness.

Hey jim, the packs i gave you for the dozer are not out of the HT4 i had. they are from the regular dozer setup. the SN for that dozer was 7u33644 and it had a 4 roller undercarriage. i think i better stop down and see what is going on, its been a while so i best get my butt down there. let me know when a good day is for you.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
