My clutch collar (the internal part) had a washer to take up some of the wear in the bronze outer collar. Anyone seen this before?

Now I'm putting a new bronze outer collar on, is it worth trying to take up some of the slack with a new slimmer washer, or should I just leave it alone. There is about ~3mm (1/8") slack between the old internal collar and the new bronze outer collar.

Hi Paul, that 3mm seems about the same as I had on my 5U when I fitted a new bronze collar from General Gear. Their advice was to ensure it was always well-oiled e.g. make sure the oiling cup and tube is clean and operational, and oil it before every start up. If you were to work for more than four hours then oil it again

Thanks Neil - I appreciate the advice. I'll put it back together with out the washer.
