Hello, new to the site and I have a few questions. Let me know If i should be posting in a different spot or stuff like that please, as Im learning how this all works. Anyway I Have a D4 Diesel tractor with a mixed History I’m trying to piece together as well as find parts for.(easier to find parts if I know what Im dealing with) It was Made from a mix of two machines, one with worn under carriage but good Diesel engine, the other with a Gas engine but good under carriage. The engine Tag is sn 4G8952 which is as stated a D4400 Diesel. The tag on the back of the tractor is 6G 3862. I cant for find anything relating to a 6G serial number.
What I really need is the Ring gear (PN 3B 7307) retained by the half moon keepers with tapered screws, or an entire Flywheel with ring gear on it.
I also need starter pinion rear bearing housing/ brake drum PN 3B 6399
Pup engine rear gear cover 4B 640
Flywheel bolt locks 2A 3662.

I would certainly entertain the idea of buying an entire parts machine if the right deal came along too. Mostly its the ring gear thats really putting the hold on right now, the other stuff can be dealt with.
Thanks for any help, ideas, or other input you may have

Hi Cable,
Welcome to the Club ,
I hope this helps.

The parts you require can be obtained from the following companys

Ring gear 3b7307 try General Gear & Machine in Boise Idaho

Parts 3b6399 and 4b0640 try Florin Tractors

Lock 2a3662 has a new part number 6b0657 and try Regal Corp in Tennessee.

For the ring gear have you tried changing the postion of it on the flywheel ie:turn it by 60 deg if it is worn in one postion

As for an engine transplant it is very common to find them with different S/N engine to back end as 4G, 7J, 2T 5T an the R4 (gas version) are common in a lot of there parts

Regards

Thanks so much for everyone’s help, its much appreciated. As far as turning the ring gear thats a good idea, but mine is broken. And the Serial number/year chart is awesome, really good info thanks. Im likely going to try and get ahold of the gentleman who looks to be out of Calgary area as that’s probably the closest to me. Thanks for the other sources of parts though also. I will add that to my little black book of informational gold! Lol.
