Interested in seeing closer pics of each cylinder of the head. Blown head gasket will do weird things.
See attached. I took these as soon as I had pulled it off. 4 & 3 in first pic. 1 & 2 in second pic where the blowout was at.![]()
I had that backwards. 1 & 2 is in 1st pic. 2 - 4 were in 2nd pic
The head, not the block.
Ok. This is 4 then 1 then 2 then 3 pictures![]()
It was time! That head has been on there a long time! Those rubber grommets look pretty bad. I would have the head checked, maybe new guides and valves, check/reseal prechambers.
My 2 cents, look very close between the valves on #3 for a crack. It looks funny and it has been taking water for awhile. You can see from the pitting. I bet if you look closely at the sleeve there might be rings of tiny rust pits where the water sat when the engine was shut of for extended periods. I agree with the fact of having the head checked and valves done paying attention to the valve protrusion spec. Dont skimp on it as it will make it easier to start. Also have the precom chambers resealed.
Don't want to the bearer of bad news but maybe this engine is due for a complete overhaul? Any idea of the hours on it?
