Couldn't get removal pictures to upload. Will try some repair pictures.![]()
Nice repair😊
It's that flux in the brown bottle that makes all the difference😄 😄
O.M. It was a try and see repair.Maybe a different rod with more copper comp. would have been better, time will tell.Made a new through bolt for the coller a little longer to get a little farther into the repaired piece.will cut to length at assembly.Yes the flux helps if aplied after the repair is done.
Old Magnet, that's not flux in them thar lil brown bottle, that's cooling liquid for the welder...😄 😄
Great job there KJC!
Good 2 C anudder ole Cat clutched up and away from the scrappers torch!
Got back in town + started on comp. of clutch repairs.had to build up threads in yoke as they were stripped out.Tryed to drill after buildup ruined 2 drill bits .Heated to dull cherry red + burried in hot ashes overnight was able to drill + tap with ease.Hope i didn't destroy the temper of the yoke overall, seems fine.O.M.would appreciate your comments on this. Will try and post some pictures later.
I don't believe the yokes were tempered. Just hardened balls (replaceable) at the pivot points.
You could go another heat/quench cycle if you wanted it heat treated.
O.M.Took some pictures of yoke after drilling and threading.Don't know the carbon cont. of the yoke but it sure got hard after welding with mild steel wire. Will try and post some pictures showing area of weld and heat treating you can see by the discolouration I hope.Need help resizing my files can;t get them to load.
