I've been thinking about converting my D2 to electric start. Are glow plugs and chambers available? BTW: mine is a "4U" series tractor

D2 glow plug pre-comb chambers are not readily available and are not being reproduced. You can however use D4 chambers with 1-1/8"-12 thread and have the threads cut down to 1"-12 to fit the D2 heads.

You would need to use the later D2 heads with the larger diameter pre-combustion chamber diameter or have earlier units bored. Also the head to valve cover spacer needs to be checked to clear the larger diameter chambers on early bored heads.

Thanks for the information OM. I had found a chart somewhere that listed part# 2s1273 for the chamber and 3H2033 for the plug that would fit a D311, D315 and D318 but was wondering how accuarate that information was.

My cylinder head is part# 4F1588 any idea if that is early or late?

Measure up the pre-com chamber/bore you have. Late size is a hair over 2-3/8" dia.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
