After getting the D2 home, I had about an hour tonight to begin wrenching
some nuts and bolts.

Came across this unit through a friend. The main engine exhaust cover was closed,
but the pony exhaust pipe didn't have any cover on it. Not sure of how long it sat...but
it was certainly too long...
Looking down the pony exhaust had signs of some nasty stuff.
I pulled the pony pipe exhaust off at the end of the intake manifold elbow and it had about 200 dead bugs, some
water and rust, the bugs might have acted like a bit of a plug...I don't know for sure.
Several weeks ago, Garlic Pete gave me some serious encouragement when he explained how the pony exhaust
warms the intake, how they're separate and I don't see any signs of water seepage from the pony exhaust into the intake
manifold.
I don't know how far this stuff went, but I'm hoping it didn't travel too far. Next steps??

nasty looking...

l was pretty surprised at the condition of the intake manifold...it looks clean,
even has a bit of original paint overspray. I was relieved that it wasn't all full
of rust. I'm going to need to keep digging to make sure all is good.
