I'm in the planning stage of perhaps lifting a D13000. The servicemans reference book says lifting equipment needs to be capable of lifting 3 ton. Am I right to think that this is US ton (2721.55 KG)? Even if it was metric tonnes, my margin for excess capacity will more than cover it. Does anyone know for certain what they weigh? I was a little surprised it wasn't heavier.
Hi, D8Dude.
I suspect that it would be the 'underfed' U.S. tons rather than our better fed tonnes. As I understand it, a complete 2U D8 with 8s blade and CCU was only around 22 tonnes and the tracks, back end and frame would make up a fair bit of that, not to mention the blade and CCU.
BUTTTT, like the 'immortal' Swishy, I do stand 2B 'kee wreck-ted'.
BTW, I made a point of visiting Swishy while I was in Melbourne for the Scoresby steam fest - GOOD bloke.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Gday Deas. Have you made it to the inland lake yet. Share some pics of this rare event when you get there. Caught up with Swishy at the Geelong machinery rally a couple of years ago.
Thanks Deas, that sounds pretty logical.
