In the past I have doen it myself and it is a pain in the neck to do yourself without the proper tools. Looking for advice on a company to reline main engine clutch, steering clutches, or clutch brake for a cat ten. Thanks

Hey Matt I just purchased a rivet punch a few monthes ago but haven't used it yet. I would like to think it will do a whole lot better job than doing it by hand. I went to a sale that a place had been in the tractor and equipment business for 100 years and low and behold sitting in the corner was a barrett rivet punch.I know you live a ways away but are more than welcome to use it. Jason👍

hey matt, just a couple weeks ago,I had Brake drum and clutch in milwaukee wis do mine for a 22,,, they had an old catalog, and seems like they could get just about anything,, i'm sure they can get stuff for a ten also

,,, relined a brake for 40 bucks each side,,, engine clutch was 70 bucks. (and steer clutches which i did not do,)he quoted me 42.00 thereabouts for a disc, which is two linings on your steel center plate...(which was for the whole job, cleaning , bead blast, and even paint and labor, which was cheaper than 20 bucks a friction , i considered buying and doing it myself..,, they do a great job,,, i just dropped off greasy grimy things and they did everything and shipped them back...

Its a couple brothers who do brakes and clutches in their own shop 50th and state st, about 1 block west of miller brewery (so that may be incentive to stop by and take a tour of the brewery!!)... They bonded my master clutch lining on with some glue stuff,,, no rivets which suits me better , get more wear out of the things and they swear that they will not tear off ever... call them .highly recommended...Scott and curt Mohr phone414-476-2292 good luck ,,Dave Pickhardt my cell 920-210-2875

Jason,

Thank you for the offer. Yes doing it by hand sucks! Also the consequences of doing it wrong are pretty high. I am going to call a couple of places and see what it costs. I can't imagine it's going to be that much. I will let you know how I make out.

Jason- Where abouts in MD do you live again? My brother now lives in Frederick, MD. Is that any where near you?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
