Hi, CTS.
Here in DowNunda, we are barred from seeing that second video 'coz "the uploader has not made it available in your(our) country".

Just my 0.02.

Deas,
Sorry you can not view the video, it is interesting.

They are using Side-Boom Cats and Cat Loader, move a section of track, bolt it to the one the locomotive is sitting on, pull the loco forward and repeat.
When they get to a turn ( a couple of 90 degrees) they use loader and Cat to pull the track around, effectively "spinning" the whole works.
Big IRON and BIG CATERPILLAR Equipment!

Side-booms have revolutionized recovery and movement of train cars, locomotives and many other pieces of equipment.  In many ways, the Side-boom machines put the RR Cranes (Big Hooks) out of business.  The "big hooks" are all relegated to museums or sent to scrap yards for the most part.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
