Great post, my cousin had a D2 in NZ that had a Birtley blade. I don't recall the balance of the system, whether the cylinders were like the ones on my D2 or were of a different manufacture. I'm also amused that even in that old ad, the copywriter was also throwing apostrophes in for plural. The editor must have been asleep that day.
