Just an interesting story I came across on one of my automotive forums, www.Bangshift.com They have a lot of content on things outside the usual car guy content as well..check it out.
This one is about the rebuild of a bronze fuel pump...

http://bangshift.com/blog/the-unobtanium-file-saving-an-ancient-caterpillar-fuel-pump-made-of-solid-bronze-with-skill-and-crafty-thinking.html

There is a link in the body of the text to Then and Now Automotive, which might be of interest to you guys. http://www.maritimedragracing.com/then_and_now_automotive.htm
Enjoy!
