Good morning all.  I recently got Dick Lloyds Thirty running.  One of the last things to button up was the air cleaner.  Dick had searched high and low for the proper air cleaner, but it was an absolute mess inside.  So I decided to convert it to a dry type.  I got dimensions from the can and looked through Napas book and found a good candidate.  It was a common filter that they had in stock.  Building the stuff inside was pretty strait forward and it turned out pretty nice.

 Here are some pictures.

Bruce, very nice work and a clever solution. The original was certainly beyond salvage!

Very Nice job Bruce
When one looks at those air cleaners, it is truly a wonder they even ran, all the dirt that went through the carburetor and engine!
I am sure the dry element will help a lot!

Another job WELL DONE BP! Your friend Mr. Lloyd is probably looking down and smiling now. Time to stretch its legs and shine up the track pads. Let's have your ace video crew film you while you are barking along with an implement. I am sure us lurkers would enjoy it. Great for some more YouTube content as well. Congrats. JM

Your well versed videographer and crew will be happy to "film" you providing you give them their due credit!
Looking forward to a video of the Thirty and Sixty working side by side, I am sure you can find an operator for either one of them so you can have them talking to each other with a load!

As Mr. Juiceman stated - WE ARE WAITING!

Nice looking machine 👍🏻
You have a close up shot of the precleaner?
I see all that crap that came out of your original filter; Is it decomposed cork, or just dust ?
I recently cleaned the crankcase breather on a D47U engine we’re working on. I thought I had all the junk washed out in the parts washer but noticed all this fell out when tapping it on the bench after drying out.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
