The ex. Jim Sheppards Caterpillar Sixty is now resting in my good friend and new owners workshop. Hopefully it will soon run again. What is the correct side for mounting the gas tank? On most pictures I see it's mounted on the left side aka same side as you start it with the flywheel bar.

Industrial tractor verse agricultural tractor determines location of fuel tank, master clutch control and seating position. Photo's indicate clutch control under left hand so fuel tank is located on the right side. If it was an agricultural tractor it would be the reverse, so that the operator has good vision of the plough furrow.

It is a nice tractor, with cold weather configuration (bonnet) possibly a late high serial number, you will get a lot pleasure from having that tractor.

Thanks Wombat! That was interesting and new information to me. I have informed the new owner Claes Nilsson. One track is in a really bad condition, are there any replacement tracks he can use?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
