Could anyone tell me exactly where to look for the serial number on the following Holt/Cat models please? (Both the location of the plate, and where the number may be stamped if the plate is missing.)

- Holt T-29 (5-ton)
- Cat Thirty
- Cat 2-ton

Many thanks

David

If the tag is missing check the edge of the block immediately above the gasket where the oil pan bolts to. Left side toward the front. The oldest engine I found this S/N stamping was a 1937 d13000. I don't know how early this process goes back. Good luck.
