Just bought my first dozer - Allis Chalmers HD-11. I know this isn't the Allis forum, but was looking it over today and the blade has a Allis-Chalmers tag on it (Model 11-GD, Serial 2232), but the c-frame has a part number of 5F746 or perhaps 6F746. To me that looks like a CAT number. What do the experts think?

So is it common to find parts mix-n-matched like that?
Are there certain models that will parts will interchange like this even between manufacturers?

Hiya mate, you got a pic u can put up ?? Sounds like someone may have 'married' a allis C frame to a D6 A blade and welded the cat eyes on the C frame.
Have seen a D6C A blade fitted to a HD11E and also a TD20B A blade on a 11EP. Actually have a TD15B A blade on my D6D. They all need abit of modifying but are basically similar. On my TD15 blade only had to alter the lift ram eyes to suit cat eyes. I quite liked ACs, yours should have a s/n stamped on upper rh side of rear main case, tell me what it says; can tell some more info; and a pic too plse.
cheers merv

I'll have to get some pics.

The blade has an AC tag on it. Side arms/push arms - I couldn't find numbers. On one of the eyes that the side arm pins to, is where the 5F746 number is. I can't remember if the welds from those eyes to the c-frame looked "factory" or not.

The blade is 12'5" wide.

best you get a new set of specs; look again you will see IH cast on the small plate above the blade; came off a ps TD15B.
Genuine cat blade here is abit like rocking horse manure, this one was going for scrap [wrecking yard big cleanout] and I got it for scrap price. Is Great for pioneer roading uphill. Have seen a few 6C/D with 15C semi U blades on too. IH had a much better blade design than Cat for the same generation of machines, for rolling and carrying dirt, and sidecutting too on D6 and 7 size machines. Although cat certainly got it right on the later "H" series machines

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
