Picked this up back in March and I'm starting to track down some parts for it. It's a fairly clean machine but is not complete and was sitting for many years. At some point in its life somebody swapped a seat assembly from a cat 20 on to it. Nicely done as it looks factory. It has the brass tags for the 20 on the machine but all of the 30 serial numbers are missing. Some of the casting dates in places show 26 so I'm guessing it's a 26-28 machine. Manifolds are shot and the rear cylinder jug is split. Missing the throttle control but I think I've track that down. Haven't torn into it to far so see how it goes.

Since you mention the water jacket on one of the cylinders, take a look at the lower radiator support, Water Pump side and see if it is broken on the inside. I know of many that broke there with not much other indication of problems. You have a very nice unit to complete. Keep us posted, pictures always welcome. - cts

Nice looking wide gauge machine, I wish it were sitting in my yard. There are a couple of places to check for the serial number, on the flat spot on the crankcase behind the rear cylinder jug, and in between the angle iron in front of the seat and the gear shifter on the trani case cover. They are not always there, but it is worth a look.
