i did find one that fit and looks good off of a allis chamers diesel put in size of the pipe and see what comes up.

try cat classic parts. i found one a listing for the u series d4 which is the same engine. they also had a listing for the pilot engine too.
Pipe off manifold is 2.5" O.D. I'm looking for the short squatty type found on the smaller graders. Most of what I see available are the tall thin type like on most older farm tractors. I used to see mufflers in all shapes and sizes in local stores but now selection is very limited.
It's been years since I went searching but "Walker Muffler" used to have a pretty good website and variety of tractor/industrial mufflers.

Old Magnet - I looked at the Walker site. They have a large selection of mufflers and exhaust systems but everything I saw seemed to be relevant to newer trucks and vehicles. I didn't see a section for old equipment/farm machinery.
RAZ - I didn't realize it but Jensales has a huge catalog of old mufflers and accessories for older tractors of all types. After looking at 108 pages worth of photos I was still unable to find what I was looking for. Impressive selection though. I thought for sure I would find something close.
I have found the correct muffler on a couple of websites only to find out that the part is "Out of Stock".
I think my next step will be to talk to my Cat dealer's parts department and see what the "indirect replacement" for the correct part number looks like.
