I have been offered a Cat 20, Ser No PL 1968. Could someone please tell me the year of manufacture?
It is undercover, seems to be complete, engine is free, good sprockets, rails are worn but usable. Overall appearace is good.
I have no idea of the value and would not like to make a stupid offer, any advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Crusty.

it would be a 1929. As far as the price is it a narrow or wide gauge? that is big on finding the price and yes pics are key. Post some and we all could help out a bit better๐Ÿ‘

Looks like a keeper to me.. Looks complete, good tracks and headlights that could mean factory generator. ๐Ÿ‘

What part of the US are you in?
Prices vary across the US.
Those rails are sunk down pretty good as evidenced by the grass/dirt being up to the undercarriage.
If its down South those rails, rollers and pads might be junk.
Keep that in mind when dickering over price.

The Cat PL20 at Aumann Auctions sale in Milton, Il on June 29 of this year omly brought $500. But it had holes in fuel tank and missing the magneto. Its under carrage looked alot better than this one. The lights and hopefully generator on the 20 in question do bring the price up but the undercarrage almost take this amount increase out of the equation. I would quess around $1500 would be fair in my part of the woods. But again it all depends on location and what buyer and sller agree upon. Been told theres a sucker born every day, I must have been the March 26, sucker for 1974.

The 20 is sat under a lean to shed, and as far as I can remember it is only straw and dried dirt around the bottom tracks.I live in Saskatchewan and the crawler is in the Western part.I own 4 other Catarpillars and was not sure of the value of a machine like this.
Thank you all for replying, it is greatly appreciated.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
