It has been a while since I have been on the site, so thought I would update. I had to leave my tractors alone for too long while I refurbished our 1986 Itasca Windcruiser motor home(honey do). Replacing the head liner has got to be the nastiest job in the world. I am working on getting my 1938 D2 to the shop so I can start the refurb on it. When I get it here will post pictures. OBTW does anybody have an idea how much it might weigh with a Holt 9' blade. The city doesn't want us leaving ruts across their airport grass runway.
Glad to be back

๐Ÿ˜ž I live on a grass strip airfield and we have no driving on runway---AT-ALL---WITH ANYTHING EXCEPT Airplane's. You haven't lived till you hit a rut while landing a 750lb cub, it gets real interesting reall fast and you get busy with the controls. Can you drive on the edge? I move my RD-6 and scraper along the edge, in the rough as it were. Hope you can hit an agreement with the airplane people

Frank we solved the problem, they are going to let us take down a section of fence on the west side of the airport. I learned to fly in Alaska where a smooth runway is a miracle. The runway at Naknek is 1200 ft of cobblestones about the size of your fist. The first time I landed on it the instructor said keep the nose up as long as you can. When we were weight on mains I thought the airplane (C172) was going to self destruct., and I have to admit I was very busy.

Glad you worked out a deal, I lived in Renton Washington for a while and flew out of "Crest Airpark" in Kent. Worked in LasVegas and flew parts, mostly electric motors, to mines in desert, at all hours of day or night. Never knew what the surface of the landing area was going to be. Sage brush, sandy, rock or paved. The air strip I live on is like a big time airport, 2800 X 50 foot, oiled dirt.
Just no night operations. We are on the VFR chart as "NC7 something, I forget." We just go by "AltaMesa Airpark"
Good luck and keep your nose up.

The correct Airport identifer should be "3CN7" FAA site 02461.66A

Frank;
I lived in Renton for 19 years. I was a radar test engineer on the AWACS doing flight test out of Boeing Field. I had a friend that lived at Crest and I flew his C120 several times. I actually live in Purdy now. The airstrip that has my tractor is the Port Orchard municipal. Gosh what a small world.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
