In the U.K. the Atlas powered Sixty that was converted by H.J. Kaiser has been put up for sale, the phone No is 0044(0) 1630673414, no asking price is given, but sadly I cannot see it coming my way with the few shirt buttons I have in my pocket. it is a beauty, and runs a blinder all 24 litres, its funny how this piece of CAT history is in the U.K.

I spoke with the owner Peter Thomas today about the tractor. Peter is going to take offers for the tractor through October 30, 2008.

I believe the history of this tractor is that it was one of 3 converted Cat 60's by Henry J. Kaiser. It was somehow acquired by Art Bright in Le Grand, CA and was sold at his auction in 1986. It was purchased at the Bright sale by Joe Heidrick, Sr. After Joe Sr. passed in the late 80's the tractor was sold to Heidrick family close friend Peter Thomas. Peter has owned the tractor for 20 +/- years has has extensively restored the 60 including going completely through the diesel engine. In Peter's words he saved it and it is now someone else's turn to enjoy this great piece of history.

I for one would love to see the 60 come back to California where it was created and used. It will be interesting to see who steps up and how far the ultimate buyer has to step up.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
