Old Magnet,
I got my bell housing drilled and just received a DEH and drive starter for my d2 direct start conversion.
Can I use a single 12 volt battery for the starter or is it a must to use 2 ? Also, can I modify my 6 volt generator to a 12 volt ?
The usual method is to use two batteries in parallel for the 12v application. Need a combination that gives a total of about 1000a cold cranking power.
The 6v generator can be converted to 12v by changing the field coils and regulator.

I'll use 2 and convert my generator. I can't wait to get this done. Couldn't have done this without your assistance. Thank you so much. I am currently working on my 1954 5u13669. It's a good runner that just needs this starter, radiator work and those 2 seals in the injected housing that you've discussed in a previous thread. My next project will be replacing steering clutches and drive clutch on my 1952 5u10323.
It is a good runner also with a good pony motor.
