Ernie, could you provide more information on this 922A in NY. I'm in Rochester and a local fellow is looking for an engine block for his 922B 59A2841 and this one might have what he needs.

All the 59A's had the D320T, so if the block is good it's the right one for him.

There may also be a salvageable unit at the bottom of the steering shaft. Don't remember what it is but seems to be a common problem on them with no cab when the water seeps down. CC jersey will know.

Yes, steering box at base of steering column would probably be a desirable part to save. As would the exhaust manifold off the D320. Really, many parts would be useful, but I'm sure the chances of getting enough of them sold by a private individual to come out ahead aren't real good. I've got a parts 944 here and we have gotten some small stuff off it, mainly that steering box. I'm not planning on scrapping it until the operable one leaves. Learned that lesson a long time ago.

The steering box is not as complicated as the 944 since the hydraulic assist control valve is not part of it on a 922, but the expensive part is the little cam follower which is the same/similar between the two.

Unfortunately getting the box off the frame may be quite a chore.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
