I've been told that ag Cats were spec'd with smaller idlers to turn easier and roll up less soil in doing it. Bulldozer Cats had larger idlers for better stability. Im not sure if that was a general rule or an option some dealers exercised when they ordered the machines. I hope to hear more on this before we leave this thread.

I believe it was the loader models that brought the options of larger front idlers, the five roller track frames, larger fuel tanks, double valve hydraulics, in the seat pony starting, transmission gear options and other developments that were captured for dozer usage as well.
As far as switching from large to small idler be aware that the addition or removal of a track link is required.
