What are the part numbers for the seal on the input shaft and the oil filter for a No 44 hydraulic control? As we do not have a parts book for it.

Im putting a double valve unit on grampers 7U for the 40 scraper and figured we might as well change it while were right there.

Thanks,
Sam

According to my #44 Hydraulic Part Catalog-Form 30032- for Serial Numbers:

6w5001 up
7w up
8w5001 up
9w1 up

There are a couple filters: the one I used is 7F7238 and is a metal filter; the other they illustrate is 2A5886 and from the drawing appears to be cotton like the fuel filters in my D4. FYI I purchased my filter from NAPA for around $55. I just saw one on EBAY that sold for more than that.

The shaft 4F4408 if that is the one you are referring to appears to have three seals...the shaft number is the same for all units.

If you can see the serial number, post it and that may help.

Need the serial number off your #44 unit but this parts breakdown is pretty typical.
The 5F4721 seal is no longer available from Cat but there are some listed on the www.machinerytrader.com parts listing (the original was a double leather seal) don't know if that's whats listed or not.

The Cat replacement is two seals back to back Cat #3H1397....or CR/SKF #15141 or National/Timken #51098. Don't think much of the arrangement but ya gotta do....

4F8946 seal is an "O" ring.

Well i went over to the shop to check the s/n and sure enough the tag was long gone...

I wire wheeled where it was and couldnt see any numbers stamped in.

There is a 59 cast into it though, not sure if that means 1959.

It came off our 15-B when we got it cuz someone rigged up a cylinder to tilt the bucket on the backhoe. The tags on the radiator on the 315 in the 15-B say D-4 so i believe that was with the control so it should be the 35 gph pump.

Im posting some pics of the 7U and the 44 and the 41 hydraulic units.

The 41 was on the D-4 and it was an ag tractor in Ohio.

Thank you guys very much for your help.

Hard to tell which gpm pump it might be but it is more common to have the larger unit on a two valve system. A #40 set up should have a surge tank incorporated as well.

Idk if uve seen how George Louge made a spacer to bring the tank out further on the control to make more volume in its tank instead of using a surge tank but we were thinking of making a setup like that instead of putting the extra tank on the hood.

I think all you would have to do is laser out a piece of 1 in think steel and put that in between the cover and the pump housing to get suffient volume since this D-4 will not have any cylinders for a blade, it will only ever pull the scraper.

There will not be a dirt guard so space is not a problem.

If you have any thoughts on that let me know.

Normally the top surge tank was used on the HT4 loader and that,s about the only place I saw them used but they could have been used on some other special applications but never saw one.

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
