Lost the pony motor main bearing dowel (2A3435) despite best efforts not to and want to make one on the lathe. Thinking of tapering it but think a straight .250" on lathe with small hed and center hole should suffice..
.turned my own bearing from round stock and it was a knock in with a hammer deal .. doesn't seem like it will ever move but with heat and vibration ill loctite in a dowel pin too..

What was the original deal was it an interference fit or taper design?

If I recall correctly, they are interference fit, including through the bearing. Guidance is to not use old dowels unless they were tight in both the casting and the block. Considering the price (don't remember exactly but I know it was chump change), it's easy to just get new from Cat
