22 steer clutch buildup Master clutch throwout bearing P/N

Finally got around to cleaning the discs and seeing what i got,,, have some wear , but good enough to use i think, so together we are going tomorrow....

Question of the day is:

When you assemble the discs and fixed plates , how tall can/ should the stack be?? I have some "extra" steel plates from another clutch pack that i could add onto the top, (before adding the big movable part), to add some height, but i dont want to go too much either.. I see from a sheet I got from Jim Zimmerman that 22's new should be 2 and 19/32, but i am over that already and i have slightly worn discs., or is it easier to tell me about how far from the top of the splined center piece should i be built up to?? Not an area that i would care to take apart again, because i got it all wrong... You can call me with advice if you like 920-210-2875

Also , does anyone have the aftermarket P/N's for the" ball "thrust bearings for the master clutch throwout??? I have the cat # from the book, but i need a number that means something to the bearing house. I can't read my number. thanks ,, Dave

Jim Zimmerman called and said that 2 19/32 is what i want for a dimension, and i got the ball bearing out and found number on the back side so i am good.


While i am answering my own post... anyone have a good 22 master clutch top "yoke" lying around on a shelf somewheres???? Also need One nut for the master clutch , 7/8" across the flats ( the bigger new style ) and One spring for the same. had to split the nut with a torch and cooked the spring in the process... drop me a line 920-210-2875

My yoke is worn out, too. I suppose I should start looking for a donor. I planned to build it up with nickel rod and have it machined.

Please post that part number from the bearing. I don't have mine apart, yet, but I should start shopping for parts.

My project has been stalled for awhile. Maybe I can get a handle on the other life-issues and get back to the Twenty-Two this spring. Thieves didn't help matters when they stole my "new" radiator core before I could get it installed.

Bill the yoke i'm talking about is the "up and over" one that works on the clutch shaft, not the throwout bearing carrier.. the bearing in the carrier is m209. i paid about 64. for a new one

sorry to hear about your theft of a core,,, copper must be up ....

the yoke should build up easily with any weld rod 7018 or equivalent as i do not think it is cast iron.... I think this because mine bent at the fork part when trying to split the trans and engine (cast iron woulda broke) yes, i went about it wrong,,, hope i did not bend my top shaft!!!... (I didnt call for help early enough) i will just build it up and grind it back...

while i'm on here, which way do the bearing notches go on the throwout bearing, i took apart two and i had one with notches facing the lock/ nut and the other facing away... it probably matters... interested in what is the right way. dave
