yes should be a large pipeplug just behind the lever that engages the starter pinion. you have to have the pinion unlatched to be able to adjust it. there are two cotter keys, one on each adjuster plug, make sure you replace them. it may take multiple tries to get the pinion latch adjusted. I adjusted mine 1/2 a turn at a time on each adjustment plug. if you get them to tight it wont kick the pony out and can overrev the pony motor. I have also heard of diesels that wont quite run, just sit there chuffing away, and as soon as the clutch is disengaged on the pony the diesel roars to life.
May be a case of worn dog latches or stop or the stop/latches are not aligned properly.
OM, Don't say worn latches, lol. Really don't want to pull that pony to take the pinion out. This machine was well maintained and cared for by previous owners. Hoping it's just the adjustment. Thanks guys.
