The hydraulic pump shaft kept coming loose on my 1955 D2 and I finally decided it was time to go in and fix it right. The bolt had stripped out and so wouldn't stay in place. The shaft kept slipping to the rear, becoming disconnected from the splines in the pulley plate and when it did this the shaft became disconnected from the hydraulic pump as well. I had to get that plate off so I could fix the bolt threads. Ended up using a spare assembly that was in much better condition.
