Tried out a d7 3t 1950 Owner said it has been sitting for two years. The hydraulic tank was empty when we started it. Filled up with a pail and a half of oil. worked it for 1/2 hr no leaks on the hydraulics other than the odd drip off the end f the cylinders. Why would the reservoir be so empty any ideas

There's really no mystery place for the fluid to go, probably was run low to begin with and two years sitting gets to looking more like four, six, ten when verified.

Hey 7mileranch,

The previous owner used it as Dust Control. Sorry...couldn't resist. If the packings are bad on the cylinders, that's where the loss is. If the rods still have their chrome, then it's not too bad to fix. If the rods are all rusted up and or pitted bad, it can get expensive fixing them. I have seen guys put new seals in with not fixing the rams, but the repair won't last long. glen
