I am looking for a D2 transmission pinion shaft.
PT # 3K3540. Anyone who would like to sell one
would be appreciated.

Hi Ron,The actual serial number in this case does not matter.
This pinion shaft is part of a Caterpillar change up. Early D2s
that had a 6B9857 pinion and 6B9991 bevel gear changed up
to a 3K3541 bevel gear and 3K3540 shaft. They called it a
coarse pitch bevel gear and pinion,to give longer service life.
I have the 3K3540 bevel gear just need pinion shaft.
Any older 3J, 5J,4U,5U may have been changed up in its life.
Part # will be stamped on gear end of pinion shaft.

My pinion have no broken teeth but have some small smashs on and maybe some small metal pieces pass betwen gear and pinion.

Ron, I need a replacement pony air cleaner oil bath cup for a U-series - I ran over mine dagnabit....Also in need of side covers and a good toolbox for under the seat (oh and a good battery box and innards)
