In need of a couple of valve guides, exhaust and intake valves, and piston rings. Slightly oversized if possible, or a source for them. Any chance of oversized pistons? Has anyone sleeved the jugs back to standard bore?

Thanks Don

"Stephen" (Sarkany) on the bulletin board here is over in South Carolina, he made new valves for his 30 using D8 valves, I'm pretty certain he made new valve guides too, I'm sure he would be happy to lighten your clip for you, he makes really nice parts.

Piston rings in any size are available for the 30, standard and oversize 20, 40, 60, 80 thou, I bought a set from Dave reed at Otto Engine Works on the east coast back in 2019, Dave is a good guy to work with, I think they were around $235 for the set, you just tell him what size you need, he has old Cats himself.

I have 23 cylinders here for the Cat 30, all except 4 have been sleeved, and those that have been sleeved, have worn those sleeves out!!

L.A. Sleeves sell new sleeves in 2 different wall thickness's for the 4-3/4" bore, and importantly they are long enough for the 30 cylinder, price was around $109 per sleeve last time I asked about a year ago.
Good luck with your restoration
Mike

Just spoke to Dave at Otto. He is having problems coming up with rings, especially oversized oil rings.

Thanks Don

Bluegrass I just rebuilt the engine om my 30. Got rings and gaskets from Chad Enyeart. I think he is a distributor for Olson's gaskets.

Good luck.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
