Lots of man hours in that one. I'm sure it didn't look that good when it rolled out of the factory.

Very nice and a great Price!
You should have no problem finding a home for it.

That is so cool. I have 2F1699. Factory electric start. same belly pan. I wish it were a lot closer. Not everyone can say that they had consecutive serial numbers. I just wish mine was running let alone looked that good.

That is a great looking 22 and priced to sell, just so you know Inter674, a nice looking fully restored 22 narrow gauge sold at the Alan Harris auction in Helidon Queensland about 2 years ago for the exact same price, $5,500, so you don't need to go overseas to buy Cats at a fair price, interestingly Alan had a unrestored 22 in the same auction and it made $4,500 from memory, only $1,000 less than the fully restored one, which makes me wonder if it is worth the long hours to restore and paint these old girls because it sure costs a lot more than $1,000 as anyone who has done one will confirm, I just bought 3 gallons of Highway Yellow paint yesterday and it cost me $78 a gallon.

What I'm seeing is when more than 2 or 3 old Cats come up for auction at one time, such as a farm clearing sale or deceased estate, prices are generally very weak here in Oz, however if there is just one old Cat. in the auction amongst other tractors or engines, they will occasionally make ridiculous money, for example a unrestored 22 sold at a clearing sale near me about 6 years ago for $23,000, yes, $23,000, and I met one of the losing bidders just recently, a big time earth moving contractor with a fleet of new Cats, he was bidding for a very wealthy buddy in the construction business and he wasn't used to, or liked getting beaten by anybody on anything, so when the bidding passed the fair market price he decided to keep running the other bidders up just for a game to see how big their shorts were, until it hit $23,000, yet unrestored but complete 22's sell for less than $2,000 or $3,000 on a regular basis around Australia, one sold for $1,600 just recently in NSW at a clearing sale.

I hope Matt finds a good home for his 22, at his asking price, though everyone in the USA knows the economy is still in the toilet right now, has been since 2008, and nice old Cats are often not making what they did pre 2008, so asking price and getting price are often wide apart unfortunately.

In picture #7 what is the purpose of the button located on the left hand side of the engine side cover right in back of the attaching bolt?
