Hi Bill,
not knowing if your bellows seal is re-buildable or not I recall Josh kindly uploading a Bulletin from Cat on how to restore these items--as long as they are not torn apart like some I have seen.
In fact there should be a full set of the said Bulletins there.

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php?22193-Conservation-Bulletins&highlight=conservation+bulletins

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Thanks Edb.......This seal is rot repairable unless I can match and replace the bellow portion.

Hi Bill,
yes, another intact one would be preferable, but, maybe, as long as the metal corrugation is only split and not torn/shredded along one crests/valleys of the unit you may be able to work the gap closer and silver or soft solder the split as outlined in the Bulletin--
Also not sure if these are similar size to a D2 unit.

Looking at a Parts Book drawing of a standard 15 final drive I could envisage making an outer adaptor to take a suitable sized lip type seals, 2 back to back, one to seal oil and the other to seal dirt ingress, and run a speedy sleeve on the sprocket hub inner surface--may need an adaptor sleeve here too-- to get to an available size speedy sleeve.
Should work for a show/parade machine.
Hope you can track a usable replacement down.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

unfortunately the final seals for high clearence, are a different number than normal Tens. According to npr, these limited application seals were discontinued well before the regular Ten seals. Appears that there no obvious sources for ten or high ten, fifteen or 22. Being so few highs were built finding a used seal may need some luck.
The closest seals still available are 22/D2. Have no idea what differences are.

Hi Bill,
if things get desperate and you have machining ability the newer style Duo Cone seals may be a possibility if there is enough metal available to machine the D-C seal Toric ring seats or space can be machined for machined adapters to be fitted to take the D-C seals.
Guessing from the size of the bellows seal arrangements there would be ample space for adapters.

There were some Special Instructions from Cat Industrial products ---

Form Numbers :- WEHE 1067, WEHE 1068 and WEHE 1069, Dated 11-80.
These would surely superseded by now as these superseded some earlier ones.

These give all machining dimensions for the then current range of D-C seals ranging in size from 2.5" ID to 21.162" ID.

This would be a time consuming way out but would give a fairly bullet proof seal set up except it may be lacking the labyrinth seal to protect them -- perhaps thin metal bolt on shields could be fabricated, location and space dependent.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

PS,
need to do other things for the moment but have scanned said Special Instructions I have and will Edit them in soon--sometimes writing things up and not posting them in a short while the write up drops out.
Stay tuned.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hello bill,

I know this is the wrong size but if you read description he says he has other sizes. It’s worth an ask.

EddieB,
I really wish I had the machining skills to be able to use that info but sadly I don't. I have to rely on others.
Thanks....Bill
