As Murphy strikes again. We just lost a member of the family , our dear D318 lost a rod. Found the pieces but engine is done. Went threw both sides of the block and the oil pan.
So I need a running or not complete D318 something I can rebuild or good complete bottom end and block with wet clutch oil pan.
This is off a cat 12- 70D3223 "59" model.
And or if anyone knows if another later engine will retro in I am willing to do that.
I'm in Kenai Alaska. Will ship anywhere in us. Just need a motor.
Thanks guys.
BTW, this had pony motor. With machined spot for starter so can use lots of parts off mine still. Head is also excellent shape.

Thanks

Not just any D318 will do. Has to be compatible with grader oil clutch configuration. Different block, crankshaft, flywheel and oil pump to deliver and return engine oil to clutch.

Hello is a 318 from a D6 9u farm tractor going to be compatible? Have two parts tractors with oil clutches, both turn over but are missing parts to start and I have not tried to run them. Located in eastern Washington, Mike

Hi Mike,
as OM and others have said above, ONLY a Grader engine will fit as there are many differences for the oil clutch system for the Grader engine application--different and special crankshaft and cylinder block for starters--these are major items that are NOT used in any other applications and so a D6 or other application D318 CANNOT be used in your Grader as a replacement.
You are limited to finding a used Grader application engine only and/or parts.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

I see some older Cat graders down in Nikiski (look in Anchorage CL) all the time on Craigslist. I'll Keep an eye out... think there is a Cat 12 for $4500 in Nikiski right now
Good luck

Looking to trade road grader for backhoe. The grader is a Caterpillar 12F. It is an older machine and has had a lot of use. It runs great and all functions work.

Caterpillar 12 G Grader (Fairbanks)

1978 Caterpillar 12 G Grader
2095 Hrs ( thought to be original due to condition of machine)
Push Block
Multi Shank Ripper
Arrangement # 2G6012
Cutting Edge # 5D9558
Tires- 14 X 24 (2 New) others showing some weather checking

Just trying to help, and you are looking for a D318, 6Cyl. 50's -60' from No.12 and/or 12E? ... sorry can't see you listing right now

Thank you to whoever saw this wanted poster. Then called the guy in California who's dad passed away. His dad had purchased a D318 wet clutch motor out of a grader in Texas I believe , hauled it to California, rebuilt the complete engine. I purchased it today and shipper has it. Will be delivered next Friday hopefully.

Thanks
