I need the part in my fuel filter in my 1937 D6 that is between the canister itself and the top of the fuel canister that holds the 6 filters. Part # 6B2342. This is the part that actually holds the six filters. It is approx. 6 in. by 6 in. and a little over a quarter inch thick. It is plastic but that surprised me. I expected it to be metal. Is the metal original or is this a replacement? This peace cracked and leaks fuel badly. I am in Northern Calif.

The original element was a series of brass screens that were cleaned and reused. You are dealing with a later up graded system. Most likely a Cat product but could even be something else. Been a long time since I have dealt with the the Cat up date but would think 4 elements would of been what was used as that is what was in the more horsepower in engine later D6.

Unless someone with better knowledge comes along I would look for a D7 or D8 fuel filter canister and start measuring and hope for the best.

Same plate in a 9G6325-up D7. D8's have more elements.
I seem to recall a post on here about duplicating the plate using aluminum

Mine is a 6 filter type using the wrapped twine type filter, not the stacked thin metal wafer filter type. I have this part for D8 (nine filters) and the four filter type for D4. Neither will work here. If I can not find one I will have to make one. Would aluminum be what I should make it out of? It looks to be a simple job (famous last words)

If your plate is as swelled as mine was, then don't measure the old plate for the hole dimensions, measure the studs and figure from there.

Thanks guys. I'll try florin tractor. If I don't like their price I'll make one. It does not look to be too tough to make one.

I phoned Florin Tractor and they do have one for $75. Not a bad price but it only took me a couple hours to make one as I had all that I needed to do the job. Now to see if it works.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
