Please people, if you are going to post a tractor or some parts for sale on this site, pretend it is some thing you are looking for and needing badly and is 1500 miles away. To put out an ad that says “Cat parts for sale, call me” just doesn’t cut it. Caterpillar probably has over 10 million antique Cat parts we may be interested in. And to sell a tractor with only two pictures, one of the serial number tag that is unreadable and another of the tractor covered in 40 years of brush and multiflora roses is not very helpful. ACMOC needs to have a informal video of “how to” sell your Cat items on here. Believe me, this can be very frustrating at times! OK, I’m done, stepping down off my soapbox!

Keep in mind that this was not an ACMOC member who is the seller but a CL ad. Perhaps you should send your thoughts to the seller, he/she needs some schooling!!!

I did not have anyone particular in mind when I wrote this. I have been reading these ads for years and they are not getting any better. If you have the skill and ability to post an ad with two pictures, you have the skill and ability to post the ad with twenty pictures. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words. Which is greater 2000 or 20,000? Unless some people do this on purpose so people will call and talk to them because they’re lonely, a very informative ad would eliminate a lot of unnecessary calls to the seller. Just my thoughts.

Actually when I posted the two pictures that was all I had of the dozer at the time when I was at work. I figured if people can read and some would like to do things the old fashion way and give someone a call it might be worth more than a picture or a thousand words. I see no reason call people out in front of a large group if you have an issue or just want to help coach them, that could be done through instant messaging. I will post better pictures, I just hope they are up to every ones standards.

More aggravated by a seller that never replys, marks the item as sold, or only answers one minor question before going off the radar.

My only question, based on your topic title, just what do you have for sale?

Thought about that one for awhile. Originally I was gonna title it “Free Advice.” But I wanted as many people to read it as possible. As you may know, everybody has free advice. So I called it “For Sale” with no description included in the title of whats for sale. This way a lot of curious people would want to see what’s for sale and read it. Looks like it worked!

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
