jbernd56 you is funny LOL.
haha the jokesters are alive and well! - those "hams" are on the floor, no tractor for them to be located on Lower Rear Corners. Now let's get down to the real issues, what is included when you state final drives? What are the conditions of the splined shafts for the sprockets, same for the bull gear and pinions. Inside pictures tell much more than a cast housing. Sprocket lying on floor too, is it or (they) included? - pictures are worth posting if you are interested in a sale - just offering an opinion (most serious buyers will want those answers)- cts
I looked on his history. Last time online was 2 months ago. Not a serious ACMOC Junkie!
Very nice responses! Wasn’t going to ask any more questions if they were not within decent driving distance of me
I don't want to cast shade on anyone but first post is a for sale ad.
And hasn't been back since.
Be careful
Caution in the winds is alive and well, these final drives have died on the floor? As in the above response to the thread, if you are serious about selling or purchasing an item, responses are necessary. Failure to respond only reflects upon your validity. - cts
Hi guys.
I have a real question! Are these for a wide gauge ?
I have a 5U in Aus. Great machine except for the stuck clutches!
They are for a wide gauge - 5U is the prefix for 50" and 4U is the prefix for 40".
For stuck steering clutches, have you tried the usual list of techniques to free them up:
drive back and forth riding the brakes as hard as you can, to get the steering drums smoking hot (literally smoke coming off them), with the steering levers tied back
fill the steering clutch chambers with diesel up to just below the bearings, then roll the tractor back and forth periodically to coat them
check the clutches are adjusted to spec. You may have to adjust them "more disengaged" if you have wear in the mechanism's pins and bushes. This to ensure that the mechanism is fully disengaging
It may be less costly to buy new clutch plates from General Gear when you account for shipping. GG also supply new clutch drums and hubs and if you go that route, I'd recommend changing the thrust bearing and lubricating hose while you have the assemblies off the tractor. Check the bevel gear bearings etc. for clearance too, and replace the mechanism bushings and pins (or build them up) if necessary. Lost motion from wear accounts for a lot of cases of inability to adequately adjust the clutches. And finally reline the brake bands.
