WANTED: Any suggestions for a source for V Belts for a D8 1H 3647. I have reached a dead end searching for an available replacement using Cat numbers 3B8904 from my parts book. I have also used #5L6672 provided by our friend, Old Magnet, in an earlier discussion. The Cat parts folks are of no help, and I have tried finding cross references for Gates and Dayco. Does anyone know where in the world I can find these belts?
Thank You!
Jeff

Hey, Thanks for checking in. I also managed to locate availability at an online Cat parts site. I guess I talked to the wrong parts guy at NC Machinery. The set seems to be in someplace called Monroe, maybe a Cat warehouse. Adding WA sales tax and shipping, the price is a tad over $200. Once I check and can confirm no internal compression leaks into the cooling system, I will order the belts. The old girl was the victim of a pocket knife cooling system drain once upon a time and the block remained full until a Montana winter managed to create a few more drains. Here is a short YouTube flick about it: https://studio.youtube.com/video/1TWKccvjtaM/edit
All the Best.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
