New member here - joined this past year. I am a young guy trying to bring my grandpa’s D2 back to life. So far I have rebuilt the magneto, carburetor, and the starter. I am in need of the front main bearing for the pony motor and also rod bearings. Does anyone know where I could get these parts?

Thanks

Thanks. I recognize your name from some forum pages my grandpa had printed out from issue 121. Your information about clutches and clutch conversion has been really helpful. How much are you asking for the main bearing?

I'd take $75 plus shipping. I'm glad my information helped.

The price sounds fair. Mine has excessive scoring. Could you tell me more about the condition of your bearing. Is the bearing scored? Has it been previously used in an engine? Has the dowel hole been drilled?

What payment service do you use? Shipping cost?

That is a great price. If memory serves me correct, I paid over $150.00 for one from the dealership years ago.JM

You'll need to check your journal diameter. Gary's bearing is std so if your journal's been turned down, you'll want to build it back up to std. Easy for a machine shop to do and you'll end up with a perfect surface. Max axial play for good results is 015 - better if you can hit 010

Neil -- .015" ? Better if 0.010" (just trying to ensure measurements are not in metric, confusing at times) Thank You - cts

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
