I have a D2 belt pully that I got from an auction in Morgan Hill, CA. I believe it is for a D2 as the old timer, who sadly passed away, labeled it on the unit as "D2". He did a good job labeling a lot of the parts he kept. The main body part number is 582640. The pully part will most likely need to get fixed as it has a rot like hole in it. See picture. I am located in the Salinas, CA area. I'd like to get $200 for it. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you more pictures. Thanks, Karl

Is the part number perhaps 5B2640? The number you quoted isn't a viable Caterpillar part number.

Turns out a piece of paint makes it look like an 8. Yes it is a B, thanks for the heads up.

I believe that is the number for a D2 dedicated drive belt pulley. Someone more familiar with D2's than myself would be able to confirm.

Why oh why did manufactures have to confuse things. Generally speaking the number cast in the part is not the part number. Called a casting number, no idea why it is not the part number????? In many cases it is close to the parts number. But it can be helpful in saying 2 parts are the same.

So if someone looks in a parts book, don't let this number convince you it is wrong for your tractor.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
