Just picked up D2 3J84XX. It is lacking the correct fuel tank. If you’ve got one, not too far from northern CA, I’d love to talk to you. A set of headlights would be nice, too!

Thank you.

Most D2s came with a seat tank but a few came with the side (fender mounted) tank like a D4 only about 6 or 8 inches shorter.

Yes, I should have said fender mount tank. Mine was built very late in the J series. Should make the hunt very challenging .

And Juiceman, the three tractor deal fell apart. Found a much better D2 in its place. As they say, when one door closes, another one opens.

I have a D2 with a fender tank. I will try to measure it compared to a D4 tank that I have and see if the D4 tank could be just cut and shortened to match the D2 fender tank.

A question or note; Pre U series machines, the fender tank; did they all have a notch cut out of the bottom center or? I have seen D4 tanks that way, unsure about the J series 2. Just an observation. JM

I was mistaken (again) about the size of the D2 tank. The one on my 3J is 36 by 10.5 wide by 13 3/4 tall. I measured two different D4 G model side tank and they were within a 1/2 inch each way of my D2 tank. Maybe someone just used a D4 tank on mine, or the factory used what was easily available. Maybe 3J can measure his tank and see if it is different? Good Luck.

Mine is 36 long by 10 inches wide and 14 inches tall. My RD4 is about a half inch longer and about 1 1/2 wider than the 3J. The 3J looks pretty stock with the way the way the fuel supply ties into the supply line.
