Looks like it had a pony motor belt-driving the main judging by that paraphernalia on the "passenger" side. I wonder what sort of pony Cat supplied with it? Ah, read the manual : ) Two 32v motors or air start.
I wasn't too far off when I guessed that it weighed 18,000 lbs. It takes two of my 10,000 lb Gradalls to pick it up and move it. Interesting to see that it is supercharged. I have never seen another Cat engine of that vintage with a blower on it. I have never had it running either, but was told that it runs. It came out of a of a hospital or someplace similar and was used for backup power apparently. It appears to have low use judging by its condition. Thanks for posting those specs.
Glen needs that engine to put into one of the D9s
ChuckC
That would be the early style D397 with the blower. Later ones ???1955 had the early style Turbocharger----similar to what the first style D9's had.
I have that style Turbo in a "cut away" version. Bill Walter; Chapter One
If this engine came out of a hospital, I would think it has very low hours. What is the plan for this engine???? Power for a carnival?????

Bill, To answer your question, yes, it may as well. Everything that I do is like a circus. So I'm assuming that the engine was built in the early 50's?
does this engine have decompression feature? maybe it could be started somehow using a separate engine with pto?:der::help:
