CAT Ten stopped running and it was clearly a spark issue. Brushes looked worn so I decided to take it into Hunt Magneto in Rancho Cordova. Brushes were shot and after replacing and recharging the coil it still didn't have spark. They suspect it has a bad coil which is out of their area of expertise. He gave me a number for another repair shop back east but before I go that route I was wondering if anyone had a coil that would work in an Eisemann Model GV4 magneto. Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Larry

Larry, I haven't torn into a GV in depth yet, but by memory that mag uses a stationary magnet & rotating coil & condenser. If so, you would have to split it wide open to work on the rotor. Since the parts aren't being made anymore there are companies that will rewind your core and replace the cond. A guess you have checked the points for continuity?

I'm assuming the mag shop went as far as they could have with the evaluation. They replaced the brushes and points and tried to charge the coil. Since they still didn't have spark they are suspecting the coil has gone bad. I have several friends who have used this shop so I'm banking on them knowing what they are doing. Will get it back and take a closer look at it myself.

Thanks, Larry
