Found something I want to buy and must sacrifice my beloved D2 to generate some "play Money".

This is a 1952 Caterpillar D2, 5U series. 48hp, has rear PTO and Belt Pulley gearbox. Main engine is a 4 cylinder Diesel and it has a 2 cylinder Pony motor (starting engine). Both engines run excellent. Pony Motor has 6 volt Electric Start. The D2 has a good, original Battery Box with lid and Tool Box. Tractor starts, runs & drives well. Steering clutches are in good shape and the tracks and undercarriage are very good (Brand-new Grouser pads have less than 15 hours on them). Hour meter shows just over 2000 hours and previous owner said that is actual. This Cat has been repainted but not restored. I have LOTS of extra parts that will go with it including;

Spare Hood, Fenders, Fuel Tank.
Brand New Hahn Seat cushion set, still in box (cost $400).
Spare Pony Motor engines & blocks.
Spare pony motor Carburetor and carb parts
Spare pony Starter
Original Caterpillar Lights (3, two front and one rear)
Spare Fuel Transfer Pump, freshly Rebuilt.
Original Alemite Grease Pump for Track Rollers.
Original Track Adjusting Wrench and Drain Plug Wrench.
Many small parts, gaskets and other stuff.
Original Operator Manual and Parts Manuals for both Engine and Tractor.

Tractor also comes with Original Tool Bar Blade (Bulldozer blade). Blade is not pictured. Blade needs paint and a little work. One hydraulic cylinder is missing. Front mounted Hydraulic pump shows some wear (pump came off another D2). Pump has a rare Two Spool Hydraulic Valve for powering rear mounted hydraulic attachments. Blade kit is complete with Lever, Linkages, Hydraulic Piping, etc.

Asking $4200 CASH or close offer (HINT; That means I might come down a little on price, but if you Lowball me and offer half of my asking price you'll only p!ss me off).

Please Call for more information (269) 381-0510.

Make sure you test it thoroughly so it's worth giving up your unit for, Rich. Or, buy it on tick and sell whichever one you're less happy with at the end of the month : )

It sounds like a really nice D2 Rich. It could be the perfect medicine for a fix of Cat fever. I am really curious as to what you are looking at to get rid of such a low hour machine. Your D2 and I share birth years but I got a few more hours on the clock.

If only shipping to the UK, was more reasonable! Sounds like a great tractor, good luck with the sale.

Rich, I saw this on CL the other day and thought it was you. I wondered where you were. I hope everything is alright with you and yours. If I didn't have a fleet, I'd be offering you on your machine. Are you leaving the hobby? You should stop in for a visit some time.

Hi Bruce,

Not leaving the hobby, just found something I want to buy and need to sacrifice one of my toys to pay for it. Getting a little bored with the D2 and hate seeing my toys just sit there. Only had it running about 6 or 7 times within the last year. I hate to sell my D2 but it's time to let it go so someone else can play with it (I rotate my Toy inventory on a semi-regular basis). I have a few potential buyers, but nobody has put any Cash in my hand yet....

Where did you originally find the tractor?
