OM you won,t believe this, my Cat SNID book right from the Cat dealer sales office that I got from them shows the 951B- 69H00001 up made in France started production in 1985 & the the 951C 69H01869 started production in France in 1980 so even the Cat books make mistakes too I guess.

David if the 951B looks on the same lines as the 951C it was built in 1972/3, if I remember the 63k was built upto about 1972 , then the 69H shovel with slewing levers and a dry back end, then the C , pedal steer was put on line.

The 951B was produced from about 1968 up to 1972 when it was changed to 951C so 1969 is about right for that one, the Cat books are notoriously wrong.

Dear all,

Many thanks for your input on this issue.

My 951A 63K was one of the last few built in early 1970, so there was a 2 year overlap if the 951B was first launched in 1968.

According to my (non-Cat) S/N book, 69H984 is indeed 1969 year of build, with 951B production that year, from S/N 69H403 to 69H990.

The 951B was produced from 1968 to 1972, with production ending at 69H1868.
The 951C 69H series then commenced production from S/N 69H1869, in 1972.

Thanks catsilver & OzDozer for putting my brain to rest on the 951B year , I used to do a few jobs for a Co' that was always after a bargain, this usualy ment buying the last of a series or model that was left in the dealers yard, I can recall they had 2 951A's 63k new and unused in 1972, also a few 951B's that had a Bowmaker supply date plate of 1972/3, the 951B was not a common tractor to find in my area as the peddal steer job , I can only recall working on about 3 of the B units.
